A MILESTONE....LITERALLY!!

While Mr. OTM and I were out junking today...the old Dodge flipped 190,000!! It was his idea to put it on the blog and I agreed!! If it weren't for her hauling all this junk around all the time, I would be lost! She is truly the muscle behind the machine! The drivers side window may get stuck, her headlights may have yellowed, the drink holder won't stay in place and we can't lock it anymore til we get a new key made BUT she is one in a million!! Let's hear it for the old girl!!

A LITTLE ENCOURAGEMENT...........

I found this wondeful quote someone had left on a comment while I was looking at some of my favorite blogs today and it stayed with me..........................
"take the first step in faith.....you don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." Martin Luther King Jr.
So simple ...yet so true!
The picture above is of my little tree in the front yard just blooming her heart out. It made me reflect on how we can all bloom, if just given the chance and then having the faith to try. For anyone who may have been needing a little encouragement today, I hope this finds a way to your heart.

CHIPPY WHITE TEXTURES!

OLD CHIPPY SHUTTER
WONDERFUL CHIPPY SPICE CUPBOARD!!!

THE TOP PART OF AN OLD CHIPPY WHITE MIRROR!

Last but not least a chippy old birdhouse! I was looking around my living room the other day and it occured to me that there are so many different textures of "CHIPPY"! I took these few photos and will post some more later. My first chippy item I ever bought was an old white cupboard that was 15.00 at a yard sale. I remember debating on it thinking" I don't know why but I love how it looks with the paint coming off!" When I went to pay for it the guy said that he hoped someone would buy it and take the time to refinish it. Well obviously the wrong gal came along because I never did do a thing to it except love it and let it catapult me into a free-fall of buying up anything that has chippy paint coming off it...especiallywhite! I used to go to an auction every Monday when I lived in Ohio. Usually it was me and a bunch of guys, English and Amish who were lookin for tools .If anything chippy came up the auctioneer would just look directly at me and start out the bidding at 1.00! Many of the guys picked up on my "habit" and some would bring stuff to sell specifically to me knowing "if it was chippy...it was me!" I used to get a kick out of them because they would say stuff to others like" don't even bother biddin against her!" or "she must have a money tree growing in her yard!" Goodness they made me sound ruthless BUT if anyone paid over 10.00 that was just outrageous to them!! (unless it happened to be something I bought that they WANTED me to buy from THEM!!!!) LOL!
I love how there are so many different tones of white and that it goes with everything! Loving a neutral color makes decorating sooooooooooooooo easy! Hope you are able to do some easy decorating this weekend!

Truck Load Full o' Junk!!

It's a very peculiar thing what a truck load of fabulous junk can do to me!!! I am smiling right now as I type this post looking at all this stuff! One of my SUPER FAV'S was the silver crown! It is probably one of the snazzi-est things I have ever bought! This crown is the direct result of "blog influence!!!!" Two months ago I would have passed this up like canned peas for breakfast BUT after looking at so many wonderful blogs and the ideas so many talented ladies display out there, this crown practically jumped out and bit me. I was very excited to get it and now I have no idea how to price it. It's tarnished but I love it that way. It is probably solid silver and worth millions!!! Who knows!!???LOL!
Some of the other goodies brought laughs too. See the KEEP RIGHT street sign? Well Mr.OTM got a pretty serious look on his face and in all sincerity says....Um I Don't know how legal it is to have one of those signs , let alone sell it!" Bless his heart!! I did have to ask him...DO you think I just stole off the post???? He says he never asks because he's afraid of what the answer will be!! Smart man! SO just to clarify....NO the sign isn't stolen...I paid for it honest!
See the stack of old homespun pillows?? Well I passed up a yard sale and had to turn around. Got to the sale and there was really nothing except an old tool carrier.Paid for it and the guy says to me...."By looking at the back of your truck I see you like primitives....my wife used to have an antique shop and we have some buildings out back if you'd like to go through them!" WELLLLLL that got my attention and I hollarded to Janna to get out of the truck cuz we were going rummagin. Here's the best part.....the guy told us that one of us could get on the golf cart with him and one could walk....well WE SAID that's okay we can both fit on the seat...HE SAYS..."now don't go breakin my tires!!!!!" OMGosh!! Yep honest to goodness he said it...what a smooth talker huh??? (what a gal doen't go through to get a good deal...I swear....) So , he took us to the buildings and we each found some good stuff...his wife threatened to divorce him because he let us back there but she softened up when she saw we had cash. The pillows are old old feather pillows with old homespun cases. I LOVE THEM.....Mr. OTM thinks they are gross. They look wonderful all stacked up...now all I need is the log cabin to put them in!
Most of this stuff wound up in the JUNKIN ESCAPADES booth at the Sleepy Poet. I will be posting some updated booth shots over on that blog later. If ya see anything you are just dying to have...shoot me and email and it could be yours! Hope you have had some laughs of your own today!!!

MR.OTM HAS BEEN AT IT AGAIN!

Would ya just look at this cutie??? I have had one of these window greenhouses sitting on my coffee table for three years. I just love it and am constantly putting different stuff in it...so far there have been huge pinecones, snowmen, candles, rag balls, a collection of old wind up clocks, a stack of old books, bunnies, old bottles and the list goes on! Anyway, we were sitting there one night and I said to Mr. OTM (Russ) "you know..you should make some of THOSE for the shop!" Well I'll be darned if he didn't do it for me!! The one in the photo here is the smaller one inside my booth: JUNKIN ESCAPADES at the Sleepy Poet in Charlotte and I have a bigger one in the shop. These look so great either inside or outside and I have even seen really big ones that gals have put in their gardens....(oh yeah...he is totally gonna be making me one of those too....lol!) We have been so busy getting the shop ready for the SPRING TYME IN THE COUNTRY OPEN HOUSE!! You will definitly see these babies here along with the stars that he has made and all the new goodies I have been working on as well! Off to go grub up something!!
