I made the right decision.....

In the middle of a super busy day drowing in a sea of Christmas garland , trees and lights ~ I had the extraordinary opportunity to chat with one of my customers who has just been thru a year of struggle.
I . Mean. Struggle.
Most of this past year had been spent in the hospital clinging to life as she awaited a transplant.
I did not get her permission to disclose her story so I want to respect her privacy. But we really don't need the details here.
She was so sick. And so tired. And she never gave up hope. She would get better to be able to be put on the transplant list, only to get sick again to be taken off.
I can only imagine.
One day, she was told that she was better and that she was put back on the list.
The TOP of the list. She was running out of time.
By that afternoon she got the call.
Her life was about to change.
Today she lives because someone was an organ donor.
I have never personally met anyone before who has gone thru something quite like this.
You should have seen how wonderful and full of life she looks. She was shopping, laughing and just living.
I made the decision to be an organ donor along time ago when I renewed my drivers license.
Today I learned exactly the kind of impact that decision can make.
I know without a doubt that is was the right one.

Birthday junk finds!

Today started off with having to call the cops. On my birthday non the less!! HAHA! Are you curious yet?
Well, we decided to go to Mc Donalds to grab breakfast (mostly because I wanted a Pumpkin Spice Latte Mocha Cappuchino fancy schmancy big girl coffee drink because I really don't like coffee but when it's filled with mostly cream then I'm good!) Soooooo, as we proceed to get back into the truck.....BAM! Reality hits us in the face with the fact that the keys are locked inside the truck. So Mr. OTM had to call the cops to get us back in business. I sat on the tailgate and sipped my uber fancy kind of coffee feeling very trendy and answering "yes" to everyone who asked" lock your keys in the truck?"  It didn't bother me one bit because it was , after all , my birthday and we were going junk hunting as soon as this little mess was taken care of.
Once we were on the road again, I realized that I wished I would have just downed this coffee thing because it was a nuisance trying to keep it from spilling onto my new hoodie (birthday present from hubs!) Anyway, I managed to only get one teeny tiny spot on the front of me. I consider that a success!!!
Once we got to the flea market I was ready to hunt for some bargains and I am soooo happy to say I FOUND SOME!!
Take a look at these! I was thrilled to find this old wood ice cream bucket , an adorable chippy white clock and some dried hydrangeas!

Take a quick guess what I paid for all of these treasures.
Go ahead , I'll wait......................

TIME'S UP!!!
The grand total for all of these pieces was $5.00!!!!
I couldn't believe it either!
Here's the breakdown:
Bucket: $2.00
clock:$2.00
Drieds: $1.00
An interesting morning + a fun afternoon with great junk finds= a perfect birthday!
Hope your day was great too!

Road trippin....

Well , I have been a busy girl lately running the roads . The last two weeks have been spent in Georgia, Florida , and Tennessee!I had the best time. I was so happy to be able to participate in the Mt. Dora Fall in the Fields show and the City Farmhouse show. Both shows gave me the opportunity to introduce Olde Tyme Marketplace to people I have never met.
It was so fun to get to know Facebook and blog followers!

It's almost time to turn the shop over to Christmas. I can't believe it's already coming. I enjoy fall so much and I love the colors and how easy it is to create a stunning display. It's all in the pumpkins. I wish there were such a thing as Christmas pumpkins!! Think I am going to enjoy it as long as I can.
Chat soon!

I just about PASSED OUT!!!!

Hello Friends!
I just wanted to introduce you to the piece that we found over the weekend that just about made be pass out!!
Not only is this old work bench CHIPPY WHITE but it has DRAWERS! Good grief, it was almost too much to take!!
For those that know me, this combo sends me over the edge every time!
It is looooong too, at least 7 feet and narrow with an old vice still attached.
It is still on the back of the truck and that is driving me crazy. I can't wait to get it down so I can start messing around with it and create the display that has been in my head since I first saw it!
You know what I'll be doing today!
Have a good one!!

June is almost OVER!!! What????

Time is FLYING!! So many things on my to-do list have yet to get done and June is already almost over!
Each year after Christmas I make this wonderful list of everything I want to get done in the next coming months. Here's a peek at mine:
Re-do Master Bedroom
Paint Spare Bedroom
Re-arrange furniture in Living room
Re-stain the Deck
Re-arrange the deck
Give Blog a face lift
Build a website
And that's just a peek.
Guess how many have been done.......

TWO!
Re-staining the deck and re-arranging all my stuff on the deck.
I am VERY happy at least those have been scratched off.
I have finally been able to go shopping for plants and flowers to fill all my planters out there.
It was getting depressing seeing cute chippy white planters empty with no blooms !

So far this Spring had been filled with Shows, like Lucketts Spring Market (love!!) and filling etsy orders like my number bottles here. The shop has been busy (many thanks!!) and the junk finds have been.......

FANTASTIC!!! We have been all over the place digging, rummaging, picking, curb scrapping and shopping for great stuff. Both of our booth spaces at The Sleepy Poet and The Depot at Gibson Mill  have recently got some PRIMO junk.
As for the other things on the list, well progress has been made on trying to get a website built and the blog face lift. I had saved up some $$$ to get it done then the ole transmission decided to go on the truck so that's where that all had to go! We have to have the truck to go find then junk then haul the junk so the junk can sell and bills get paid~ so it was a no brainer. I am still excited to get this done and can't wait to be able to show you all the "new" old look!!
Til then I have added another thing on my to-do list:
Learn how to transfer photos from my smart phone (droid bionic) to my computer. If anyone knows how to do this....I have a feeling I am the last person on earth who doesn't know...please feel free to share the info!

How to make THE PERFECT HARD BOILED EGG...Seriously!

Since my neighbors put up a coop and got 4 hens around Christmas time~ I have been on cloud nine with helping to take care of them, watching them in the yard and most of all, enjoying their eggs.
Since the arrival of warmer weather the egg production has been fantastic.
I been making egg salad, eggs for breakfast, egg whatever!
But my sole quest of late has been to make a perfect hard boiled egg.
Sounds like it should be easy right?
NOT!
Anybody else with me on this?
I can specifically remember my Home-Ec teacher standing over me as I made the perfect egg and got an A.
That was in 8th grade and could have cared less about hard boiled eggs. And apparently I must have just lucked out that day because since then, I've struggled.
They either come out over cooked with the dreaded  GREEN YOLK...ick!
Or, you wind up peeling all the white off with the shell!
Soooo, a little research was on order and the experiments began.

Here is the result that I have found WORKS THE BEST for a perfect hard boiled egg:

Eggs that have been refrigerated for a few days work way better than "fresh from the coop eggs."
Place all the eggs in a SINGLE LAYER in the pot.
Pour water over the eggs to be sure they are completely covered.
ADD a TBS. of white vinegar (will not affect taste)
Bring the water to a rolling boil and then TURN OFF THE HEAT.
Cover the pot for about 15 minutes ~ no longer.
Drain the hot water and immediately pour COLD COLD water over the eggs. You can even add ice if you want. The shells are porous and soaking them in water will help to release the shell.I also tried cracking them a little before I  put them in the cold water, but found that it wasn't really necessary.
The result of all of this is: THE PERFECT NON GREEN EASY TO PEEL EGG!!!
My Home-Ec teacher would be so proud.
Oh, and for all the eggs shells?? These work great in your compost pile OR put them in the hole you dig to plant your tomatoes in. They love um!
Good luck on your egg cookin!
Let me know how they turn out OR if you have other TRIED and TRUE TIPS!

I plant stuff in WHAT???

As I sit here and look out my dining room window that looks out onto our deck, it is 27 degrees and yet the sun is out teasing me of warmer temperatures to come! Come warm weather I load up our deck with all sorts of plants and flowers planted in all sorts of different containers. Since it's still to cold to start, I have been cruising the Pinterst highway to get inspired and keep  me satisfied till I can get my hands dirty!!
Take a look at some of these beauties I found recently!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE rusty buckets!!!

These are campanulas. Georgeous in these metal drawers!!

I always have a few of these old galvanized tubs.

Never used an old crate before...think I am going to have to try this !

I have an old bike just waiting to be planted this year! Super excited about that one!!

Old tool totes always look great!

And this is the reason I am on the hunt for more old watering cans!!!
I sure am ready to get started.
Come on warmer weather!!!
Please!!
