I have no doubt.....You can handle it!!!

Here are a few of my FAVORITE pieces that we found while on our recent junkin trips!

Every time we come back from pickin...Mr. OTM always asks me...."So what is your favorite piece you found??"

Usually I have an easy answer......

but on this trip , it was hard.......

But I think I narrowed it down to this.......

a perfectly chippy old cast iron bell! For what ever reason, I LOVE this thing!

This wicker rocker is A-Dorable.....

and I got a kick out of the description written on the price tag of the picket fence plant stand ...it read "Mission style farn stand" yep....farn...yep mission style....lol!

all chippy and rusty in just the right places.....

the crown hanging baskets aren't old but they are zinc and zinc=old lookin so I had to have um.

This old cabinet is KEWL. When you see it up close you can tell it was pieced together using a bunch of different materials.

AND NOW FOR THE MYSTERY PIECE REVEAL.......

Duh duh duh daaaaaaaaaaaa...............

For those that guessed a MIRROR......you know your stuff!

Hello Friends!

It's great to be home!

The road trip was FANTASTIC! Mr. OTM got to go with me which was unexpected and I LOVED IT! So much more fun with your honey beside you . (Plus he can help carry the heavy stuff to the truck *wink*!)

We found some PRIMO chippy, rusty, peely, crusty junk and filled the truck!

I got to finally meet my ADORABLE nephew, Colton who is quite possibly the cutest thing on earth!

And I got to share time with other family and my dear friends.

That ALWAYS feels soooooo Gooooood!

And YES!!! We got a snowstorm too! PERFECT! YIPPEE! I was so happy!

I don't have all the pictures uploaded yet but I just wanted to give you a little tease of one of the pieces that we found.

OHIO HERE I COME!!!

I cannot wait to get there!

I've got a brand spankin new nephew to meet with the cutest cheeks ever that need some pinchin and about a million kisses......

My BFF's have all been warned I'm comin........

Mom is making her homemade cream of mushroom soup........I'm hoping to get to see some of THIS.......

Yep....I love the white stuff!

And you know I'll be diggin around for plenty of THIS.......

And just in case you are wondering...THE SHOP WILL BE OPEN regular hours while I'm gone.

My girl Kimmie will be happy to help you!

Soooooo.....I am off and YES.........I've got my camera all packed and ready to take tons of pics.

Winter Garden.........

Hello Friends!

When winter rolls around~it's often hard to say good by to all the beautiful colors that once graced your yard, porch and deck areas.

Just because all that goes away doesn't mean that you can't create some wonderful winter displays in those same areas.

Here ,I am sharing with you what I do on our back deck area.

Since we have french doors that lead out from our dining room ~ this area is very visible and I always have it loaded up with containers and baskets in the summer months.

Once winter gets here, it gives me the chance to do something different!

This year I chose to utilize all my specialty pumpkins instead of tossing them into the compost pile just because Fall was over! (If you did that, you can probably still go rescue a few!)

I wanted a natural look and something E*A*S*Y and low maintenance.

I started out with this adorable handmade small wheel barrow. I had petunias in it (you can still see one in the front) this past summer. I pulled out all the dead stuff and left the dirt as a base. I started with the pine and stuck some of the branches right in the dirt to act as an anchor for the other pieces on top. After the pine I added the super cool white kinda flat white pumpkins (real) and the huge pine cones (fake). I like the look of mixing the real and fake stuff. In this case it's what I had on hand and I thought it looked great!

This was my $10.00 real Frasier tree from the North Carolina mountains that only cost me $60.00 for the tank of gas to pick it out! Every year I always like to put a tree out there for the birds. I usually have little suet ornaments on it but they had wiped me out before I took these pictures. Yes.....we have other trees in the yard and yes I put feed in those bird feeders (Mr. OTM likes to point out this fact every year.) BUT...I like that this is closer to me on the deck and I can see the birds better while I am eating my breakfast.

I've got it sitting in an old galvanized tub surrounded by more pumpkins, pine cones and statuary.

Not alot of effort needed to pull this look off. Just work with what you have and watch the scale of size.

See this little concrete cat? I just saw one in an antique mall yesterday for 150.00 bucks. If this one is missing off my deck I am going to come get you! lol!

My rosemary is still goin to town so I didn't have the heart to yank it out to make this arrangement balanced. Who cares right?

I am lovin it anyway.

If I could have white pumpkins to decorate with all year round , I think I would.

They have got to be the cutest little things and I love the color.

Eventually all these will start to get mushy, but until then I look forward to being able to enjoy them for a few more months.

This particular pumpkin is nestled in a pine bough nest inside a big old wire birdcage. Sorry for the lack of a full on shot of that but it's easy to picture it. You could easily get this look on a much smaller scale using a standard size birdcage with the small white pumpkins.

I hope this inspires you to create some winter beauty for your outdoor spaces. The only thing that is lacking for me is a beautiful dusting of snow. A good 16-24 inches worth.

Just when you thought you were done reading posts about my

camera....BAM here comes another one!

WAIT!!! Don't click off just yet!

You've hung in with me this far......

You've offered the kindest words to keep me from thinking I was losing it.....

One comment even stated that I was going to FIND my camera now that I got a new one.....

I know....hilarious right?

BINGO!

Yep!! I found the little sucker hiding in the console of the car!

I swear I could hear it giggling when I lifted the lid.
So I guess I have grown my photography arsenal!!!!.I hear that some of the big time picture takers have duplicates of their favorite cameras in case- God forbid- something would happen to one of them.

Feelin a little bit like Annie Lebowitz right about now...........

(P.S. The sunset photo was taken in the Gulf of Mexico a few years ago. It has nothing to do with the post except for being eye candy cuz we all hate posts without pics right?)

Hello Friends!

So on my last post you found me boo-hooing about my lost camera.....

(which still remains lost by the way.)

I decided that I just needed to take the plunge and go ahead and get a new camera.

Just jump on in there and spend the 400.00 and have a nice big ole fancy hi-tech

number loaded with thing a ma jigs and doo dads.

So I began my online assault of all things "camera!"

I hit Amazon....

I hit Best Buy.....

I hit Overstock.....

I hit ebay......and that's where I found.......

this.....

My old camera.

And I bought it.

For $74.00 plus shipping.

I know...I know...You can't tell me anything I haven't already told myself BUT I have this totally rationalized (in my head...)

See, I have a BOATLOAD of awesome items to get into my etsy shop....

I have a new nephew to meet in a few weeks.....

I have NO time to sit and figure out my ISO and aperture right now on a new camera.

I need to take pictures NOW!

See....alllllllll rationalized.....

Call me Crazy?

I Feel Lost.......

Hello Friends.

I lost my camera.

There I said it. Now it's real.

UGH.

I truly feel lost without it.

It must have heard me mention that I was in the market for a new one so it just up and disappeared.

What it didn't understand was that I didn't want to REPLACE it...I just wanted to add to our photography arsenal like all the big time picture takers do.

I wanted to learn a new camera with different do dads and stuff (high tech big time picture taker terms) while still being able to feel comfy with my old stand by fav.

Makes me sad. It's lost someplace between the house and the shop. I have looked everywhere so tonight I made myself fess up......

I lost it.

Sniff.....

(crying jag could take a few minutes..........)

Now this forces me to go out on a limb with a new camera and have no safety net with my old one.

I can't wait to see how this goes.

When this time of year rolls around I always look forward to decorating with all my chippy white favorites. As if they didn't look great all year long~ something happens at Christmas time that makes them just shine! I figured out what it is .........

I know....AMAZING right???

I knew I had to share this revolutionary new decorating tip with the masses!!! LOL!

Seriously though....

simple Frasier sprigs tucked here and there are JUST the right touch

and let me add again........

SIMPLE.

And quick to do. You get beautiful results in seconds.

I did alot of tucking recently.....

Many of these pieces are ones that I have recently discovered.....

You may have some pieces like this sitting in the attic or garage.....

That are just waiting patiently to be jazzed up a bit with a simple sweet pine sprig!

You can go from a typical snooze fest pillow arrangement....

to adorable with just one sprig!

Fill an ole wash tub with a bunch.....

and stand back and realize that you did that in minutes!

Nothing is off limits when it comes to sprigs......

except perhaps anything that you don't want sap on....

which could be a good number of things but for the sake of decorating we sometimes improvise.....

With all that goes on this time of year~ decorating your home should be one of the fun and enjoyable things!

Hello Friends!

It's so hard to believe that another Candle Light Night has come and gone!

It Was AMAZING!

Every year as all the smiling faces wait to come inside, I get choked up.

It fills my heart with pure joy and just to see everyone revel in the Christmas Spirit makes me

so happy to be able to do what I do.

I have some random photos to share with you. Please bear with me as my camera decided to have a temper tantrum that night for what ever reason~ but I was bound and determined to get some shots.

A Burlap thrift store MakeOver!

Hello friends!

It has been quite awhile since I shared with you a good ole fashioned

Thrift Store Make-Over Post!

Lord knows I've done a bunch of them but remembering to to take the all important BEFORE picture helps in the over all post ....know what I mean? Lots of times that doesn't happen.

Well ....THIS time I remembered!!

After making the car payment and buying a turkey yesterday I decided to head into the local Goodwill. I found this cutie laying in a heap of faded pointsettas.

The burlap caught my eye and so I picked it up and started to imagine what I could do with it.

The face was make from panty hose (ick..) and 1984 called and wanted their gold wings and thread back......
So I gladly gave it to them and transformed that

into THIS!

Christmas always brings out my primitive side and as soon as I started working on this

my primitive Santa took shape.

Gone is the panty hose head.....

Gone are the gold wings and thread....

Gone is the loopy twine hair......

Now we have a tea dyed old feed sack head.....
Vintage trim around the collar.....
Old curly wool for the beard....
Pine accents.....
A new hat and mittens.....

and a brand new twinkle in his eye!

I really enjoyed seeing this transformation! Usually it a piece of furniture so this was fun to do something different. Challenge yourself and head to the thrift store to find something like this and give it a holiday make-over. Could be a stocking, snowman, wreath, Santa or whatever! Use your imagination and create something that you will just love!

My Santa is for sale and is headed to the shop but you may want to use yours as a gift or just for yourself.

Either way....you are gonna have fun!

Meet my New Purse!

Hello Friends!

Isn't it fun to be in the market for a new bag?

I love bags and seem to always be on the look out for

the next best thing.

Well I am here to tell you ......

I found it!

This time I owe it all to LL BEAN!

If you were to look at my collection of bags, totes, luggage etc...you would definitely notice a trend.

CANVAS.

I love the durability and texture and depending on the bag you can even throw it in the washing machine .

My new LL BEAN bag is called the Sea Washed Canvas Guide Bag. I ordered the khaki but is also comes in olive too. (yep.......it was tempting to order one of each, I'll be honest.)

Let me count the ways I love this bag:

1. LOADS of space

2. It's not heavy

3. Was not too pricey (only $49)

4. The color will hide dirt

5. Will stand up to being tossed in the pick up during junk trips

6. adjustable strap

7. handy pockets

8.convenient bag handle

I am a more rugged kinda girl when it come to purses for everyday use. They have to stand up and I don't want to cry a river if it gets a mark, scratch or rip especially if it was a more expensive bag.

This one is PERFECT!

A Marketplace Update....

Hello Friends!

Thought I'd give you a little update on Marketplace home front!

First off.....My Mrs. Meyers soap arrived yesterday and all is right with the world.....

The shop is FINALLY coming together with all the Christmas decorating!

You can see the floor and actually shop! Some displays still need work but it is looking like an Olde Tyme Christmas! The carols are playing and I am continually putting out new products.

AND........The MOST AWESOME NEWS OF ALL.........

My nephew~ Colton Richard was born on 11/11/11!!!

He is doing wonderful~ as cute as the dickens and I will be getting photos together soon.

I think he's the most precious thing ever. I will hopefully get to go back home to hug him in person soon.

I am a super proud Auntie!

And finally ,

Today is off to a GREAT START!!!

After having to trudge thru the holidays WITHOUT my FAVORITE Mrs. Meyers soap scents last year...I knew I couldn't go thru it again this year! {insert total drama here~lol!}

I blame this whole thing on Target really if you must know.

I went in one day to get toilet paper and and cat food and right there on the end cap was this soap......on sale.

So I had to take a wiff and BAM....hooked ....line and sinker!!

Since my Target decided not to sell the holiday scents anymore I was left wandering lost in the woods wondering how on earth I could get some!

I hopped onto the ole internet train this morning and decided to look up ole Mrs. Meyers for myself.

Ta-Da!!

I am soo glad I did. Not only did I order this "sure to be awesome" Orange Clove....
I TOTALLY stocked up on my super all time most favorite scent ever:

IOWA PINE!

It is bliss in a bottle.

Hello Friends!

So it happened like this.............

Friday morning the show began at 10:00 am. Based on last years show I still had a good 45 minutes until the crowd got thick.

So I take my time to get my last minute stuff together.

That included getting all my bags situated...

Money in the cash register....

Credit card machine fired up.....

Check out area organized......

and

Snapping pics of the booth.

Welllllll........NONE of the above happened.

At 9:45 I had made my first sale (to another vendor) and we chatted until the show opened and by then it was too late!People were flooding in and sales were brisk all DAY!
We sold out of sleds.....

wreaths were gone.....

had to make some more that night in the hotel room.

{Let me tell ya....you get some weird looks from folks when you traipse thru the lobby at 11:00 at night with a mountain of greenery , ribbon, an old sled and berries}
I was pooped but I HAD to get some things done to be able to sell on Sat and Sun!

The old feedsack stockings were a show Best seller!

So on Sunday morning I finally got around to taking some pics for you!.

{Plus I finally got my check out area organized right before it was time to tear down!}

I love doing Christmas in red and white and it looks like the customers did too.

A HUGE thanks to all the new customers I met and also for the FABULOUS blog followers that introduced themselves too. It always so much fun to meet new friends.

With the show behind me, I am now in FULL ON CHRISTMAS DECORATING MODE at the shop!

This week you will have to enter at your own risk. It will be a disaster zone for a few days but the result is always worth it.
It's beginning to look alot like Christmas............

Holiday Market in Greensboro...THIS WEEKEND!!

Today is such a great day to be outside. My wreath workshop is in the garage so I have LUUUVED being able to be outside while getting all this done.

I've been up to my earlobes in pine, burlap, gingham,ice skates , old sleds ......

you name it!

I am almost ready to start loading the trailer for the trip to Greensboro NC for their

Holiday Market!This is one of the wreaths that I just got done that is on an old chippy white sled.

It's going to be a bit hard to part with this one.

It's a little different than the others that I have done ~ most of them have red berries with gingham bows. But I thought that if I were shopping at this show and I saw this , I would buy it so I am gonna leave it as is !

Metal tree Transformation!

Good Morning Friends!

Here's an idea that I came up with that I am pretty excited about.....

Are you ready for this?I was given two of these standard white pre-lit metal Christmas trees....
I took it out of the box and easily assembled it and let the branches fall and then "fluffed" them into place... I made sure I plugged it in to see if all the lights were working.....

I tore a GAZILLION of these. Most of what I used were old vintage flour sacks that had stains or holes. Each strip is about 4- 5 inches long. You can use muslin, an old sheet, vintage curtains, whatever floats your boat.
After you get all these together you just start tying them onto the metal branches.....

and after a million hours you arrive at

THIS!

I am in LOVE with how it looks.

Ages ago I used to tie rag strips around a tomato cage frame and made trees out of those.

Still a great idea~ they just take forever to get done.

One day while I was at the shop I was moving these trees around wondering how I would be able to use them for decorating INSIDE.That's when I decided to give this look a try and see how it turned out.

It does take some time to get done but the project itself is easy and the results are

awesome!

So far it's been pretty popular at the shop....

It's our first Christmas decoration that we have out (the Christmas chaos starts next week!)

We plan on doing the 6 foot tree next.....

to use in a Shabby winter wonderland display!

Every once in a while the stars align and a great idea is born!

(either that or my vitamin must have kicked in that day...lol!!)

Concrete fact #1: Today I turn 43.

No doubt about it....(the wrinkle on my forehead is a dead give away)

How did 43 get here so fast? In my heart am still the little girl playing Space Invaders on Atari with my brother and buying Forenza sweatshirts at The Limited!

Concrete fact #2: Time goes by WAYYYYY to fast. It's not a cliche but a cold hard fact.

Sooooo, since there is not a dang thing I can do about it~ I am just going to embrace the whole 43 thing and count all my blessings and look forward to this whole year.

There is ALOT to look forward to!

I have a nephew who is set to be born any day now....

Russ's niece is going to have a baby girl in November....

I've got a grandson coming in March from my beautiful step daughter Erin....

Russ's nephew is getting married in September....

and my other beautiful step daughter Shawna is getting married in Oct.!

So much to be thankful for.So in the spirit of Birthday's and all that goes with them....

I decided to get myself a present.

I knew what I wanted for months now( but have been too cheap to get it.)

Ta-Da!!

Oh my gosh. What a magazine.

The pictures, the articles , the inspiration.

Everything is so beautiful.

And ...my good friend Joy from savvycityfarmer is featured!!!

I went outside on the porch to read it this morning and as the sun was coming up it inspired me to take you on a stroll of all the different concrete pieces that I have in my flowerbeds.

(See...that magazine works fast!!)

This little girl was a bargain because she doesn't have a hanger on the back.
That's alright by me...I think she looks great resting at the base of my tree as my garden path winds around her.....

this stepping stone greets you at the start of the path.....

my favorite birdbath was handmade....

can't possibly have a flower bed without bunnies.....

my English Puddler is a fav with the butterflies....

(and also looks great when I bring it in the house for winter and set a candle in the center!!)

You can't have a garden without this guy!

Concrete pinecones are really for a gas fireplace but I found them at Goodwill for .49 cents each and thought they would also look good in a garden...

My concrete mushrooms are all over the place...I love um!

THIS is my favorite and to be honest it's not concrete at all

But solid rock! I lugged two of these back from Valley Forge Pennsylvania years ago and have carried them to each house I have moved to.

My hen and chicks planter is another piece that I have had for years!

These hen and chicks came from the first house I bought and have been with me ever since.

Hello friends!

I was recently on a mission......

For a good pair......(no scratch that) a GREAT PAIR of shoes.

I headed out Friday night...to the MALL (which is a huge deal cuz unless the word ANTIQUE is in front of MALL...I usually stay away.)

Now, one thing that I don't normally do is spend alot of money on myself.

This had to be an exception. I am on my feet ALOT and with the holidays coming and the shop needing decorating and my current pair of shoes are in the process of loosing the left heel~ I knew I needed to make an investment.

And so I did......

in THESE!I was introduced to Alegria Shoes and I am never looking back.

Oh~My~Gosh~Golly.

Do you have a pair of these?

Am I like that only person to not own these yet?

THEY ARE AWESOME (and I am not being paid a single solitary cent for going on and on about um either. However, I am available to discuss opportunities....LOL!)

They are worth every penny (110.00 worth of pennies) but I am thrilled that I bit the bullet and bought them. My legs, back, feet, earlobes, eyebrows, fingers, etc...all felt GREAT at the end of a "very busy on my feet all day" kind of day yesterday.

This is a great example of "getting what you pay for."

Don't get me wrong~ cheap shoes that look cute will still find a way into my life

BUT.......

I am officially an Alegria girl from here on out!!

HER !!!!

No Joke!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!!!

There she was just hangin out in a dumpster!!

I was soooooo excited to get her out!

The rescue went off without a hitch (for once...haha!!)

and she is thrilled with her new digs!!!

I let her bask in the sun for her photo shoot!

We were friends right from the start!

Plus we've got sooooo much in common:

We Both Love to dumpster dive apparently.....

She's spongey......like me

We're both short....

Her dress has stains.....like all of my clothes

and the list goes on!

She stands proudly on a rusty metal base!!

A Good Old Fashioned Antique Fair

Hello Friends!

I recently had the opportunity to head out to a wonderful antique show in a little town named

Cameron here in North Carolina.

Since moving here 6 years ago I had always heard about it but never had the chance to get there until now.As soon as I rolled into the town I got that nostalgic feeling.

Actually I got extremely home sick.

It felt like the antique shows that I was used to back home.

I couldn't wait to get out of the truck.

There was stuff as far as the eye could see!
I thought this little sign was adorable!

I felt like the girl in the drawing!

The crowds were plentiful......

The junk was superb......
(should have bought this cabinet base)

piles of it everywhere.....

there were old street signs....

(these were still in use...not for sale)

adorable old homes lined both sides of the street.....

old buildings sprinkled about....

I loved the doors on this one...

not to mention all the chippy old paint!!!

And the food! You KNOW the food was FABULOUS! Look....a whole turkey drumstick for only 6 bucks!

It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine!

I'm so glad I finally made it there.

I did find a few treasures and would have bought ALOT more if I wasn't by myself.

You can be sure that Mr.OTM is going to be tagging along next time.

He just doesn't know it yet.

Junk Finds on a Friday!

Some days, things just come together.

Unexpected Fun!

That's what happened this past Friday. I got an unexpected day to spend with my Mr. OTM and we hit the junk trail!

It worked out great. I had sold a large cupboard that needed to be delivered

so once that was done.

We got to pickin!

Here's what we found......
the vintage glass front cabinet was a great and needed find...

french metal floral buckets.....

the color of this little old bench is perfect vintage aqua....

for some reason I am always drawn to canvas military bags...

the primitive bucket bench has the BEST old cracklie finish...

old mellow yellow side table...

these are some of the oldest (and cutest) embroidery hoops I have ever seen...

little old clothespins...full of character

the old stapler still works!

that big ole coil of wire fencing needs an awesome project...

unearthed some ironstone!!

And we'll end the show with a tour of the Eifel tower!

A good amount of these items made their way into my booth at the Sleepy Poet yesterday.

We did a huge make-over in that space as well.

Last one there is a rotten egg!

Big Booth Make-over

As I type this post...it's late.

I can hear an owl in the distance softly hooting....

and he's making me sleepy!

I better get a wiggle on!

Since my booth spaces are such a large part of my business and alot of time is devoted to keeping them up,

I feel like you need to see what I am up to with them on occassion!

This past Tuesday , I called up my girl Wendy to see if she was willing to help me totally revamp my big booth at The Depot.

A total revamp make-over to me consists of moving around every single piece of furniture~

bringing in a TON of new product~

and giving the space a FRESH new look.

Plus some serious sweeping.......lots of sweeping!

Hello Friends.

When two gals hop in the car at 5 am for a 5 hour drive just to get to your shop~

you know you may be onto something.

There was no other reason for the trip.....

they just wanted to come to the shop.

I was blown away.

And so happy.

That got me to thinking about anybody~ near or far

who hops in the car to make the shop a destination

whether it's only 5 minutes or 5 hours.....

It continues to make me so grateful and amazed.....
and proud....

I LOVE that YOU LOVE what I do here.

I appreciate all the goodness that you bring to me each time to grace my door step....

I am grateful for the joy that MY shop brings YOU....

but more importantly I want you to know that it really is

ALL ABOUT YOU.

YOU are the inspiration for the merchandise I buy......

YOU are the motivation behind the displays I create....
YOU are the reason that most of my clothes have stains and a manicure is a total waste of money....

YOU are the reason that I can get up in the morning to go to a job I love.....

I wanted to share with you part of the overall experience!

This is how I started out...

I told you that I would be leaving a chippy white paint chip trail from here to Tennessee!

I'd LOVE to know what goes thru people's minds when they pass me on the interstate!
See that wheel right there in the lower left corner of the photo??? Huh ??See it??

Well that's the one that decided it wanted to FALL OFF two hours into the trip.
(thankfully, I pulled over just in time!)

Here is the Early Bird line starting on Friday!

This is the glorious Barn where Wendy and I lived for 3 days......

Susan who owns the farm told me that I had the honor of being placed in the birthing stall where all the babies are born! How sweet is that? Her parents were the most adorable folks. They welcomed us with open arms and hearts. They couldn't believe how their farm was transformed.

They openly gave thanks to the Lord though out the show for our wonderful weather and for all the folks that were there. And let me say this....when you see a couple who have spent a lifetime together and still hold hands......that is the definition of precious right there.

The tire swings were in constant use.....

Meet Hazel! This adorable vintage camper belongs to the equally adorable Michelle (and her husband) of Vintage Junky! I was so excited to meet her and see her amazing talent first hand. As soon as you stepped into the barn, it was her things that greeted you! A perfect beginning (which I didn't get a photo of...duh!) To see her amazing booth all you have to do it visit her blog and you will be drooling.Guaranteed!

Speaking of drooling....this is what I lusted after that entire time I was there ......

and these fantastic ruffled linens from Bella Vintage.

Carters Creek Station was just outside the back of the barn in their own little world! I was a great set up with tons of vintage chippy rusty goodness. It featured 3 separated shops all offering the best junk!

I am kicking myself by the way for not getting this wagon.

The gals from Three French Hens were our neighbors for the show and did a BLOW YOUR MIND job on their booth. This was one of my favorite displays they had. You can see more about these chicks in the current issue of Flea Market Style Magazine!!

It was such a good time being next to these sweet ladies. I can only imagine their shop!

Whew! The whole thing was amazing. Linda and Art from AGAPE were unbelieveable. They worked SO HARD. Oh.My Gosh. Two of the nicest people on the planet! We had so much help loading and unloading the truck and trailer. Talk about being grateful!! I can't even begin !

I got to meet some awesome ladies including Theresa from Time Worn Interiors, The Cranky Queen, Petticoat Junktion, SassyTrash (who I have blog stalked forever!!....love her!) and MORE! It's ALWAYS fun to connect face to face with a blog follower and talk live and in person!

Most of these bloggers have done their own posts on the show and have some amazing photos that they have shared!

I'd also like to give a huge thank you to my girl Wendy who worked her butt off helping me with everything and deciding to stick around even after the wheel fiasco!

Good to be HOME

Hello Friends!!

Ahhhhhh....it's sooooo good to be home.

Bella Rustica was A*W*E*S*O*M*E!

The people were W*O*N*D*E*R*F*U*L

The vendors were A*M*A*Z*I*N*G

The location was B*E*A*U*T*I*F*U*L

but..........

I am grateful to be home. This journey didn't go without it's frustrations.

Two hours into the trip I almost lost an ENTIRE WHEEL off the truck. Lug nuts were snappin like peas. My friend Wendy and I were sooooo lucky that it didn't turn into a disaster.

Add a flat tire onto that (different wheel) and I was ready to be home.

With that being said...I am SO glad I did it.

Such a great experience meeting so many blog friends......

Being surrounded by such talent.....

I will never forget it......ever!

I have loads to photos to share of the whole event!

I have never seen another tub like this.

Good Morning Friends!

Don't have alot of time to chat today.

I have a mountain of feed sack pillows to sew up......

Some framing projects to finish up.......

Anyway....I am happy to report that I was able to get at least 5 photos of the inside of the shop before the second batch of batteries died on me! Geez louise.

Apparently I need to cough up some cash on some new rechargeables.

Fall definitely brings out my primitive side....

That Pumpkin Patch sign is made out of old barn wood and rust...a perfect combo!

The quality is amazing.

The photos are fantastic.

We even have the handy dandy wrought iron calendar holders.

The sweet face little pumpkin girl, I made. She has on an antique dress and looks to be quite happy nestled among the bittersweet garlands.

Well I got three pics in before the camera batteries died!

This is just a small part of the truckload that we got on Sunday.

One of my favorite things is this crazy pumpkin!

Yep...it's real! They called it a peanut pumpkin.

I loaded up on pumpkins to take to Nashville with me to use for display. I bet this one will be a hit! All the other stuff in this picture will be heading to Nashville as well!

That chippy orange metal tool tote is gonna be hard to give up.

I was desperate to find a big piece for the shop and the junk gods shined down on me big time!
This old step back cupboard has barn red on the outside and mustard on the inside.
Perfect colors for holiday decorating.
It is already in the shop and all dressed up!

I got the batteries charging so there will be more pics soon!

Good Morning Friends!

This post is out of order.

It was scheduled to come tomorrow because I had grandiose plans of getting up bright and early this morning and taking photos of the TRUCKLOAD OF JUNK that we scored yesterday.

That didn't happen.

Instead I found myself sleeping in and dreaming of the hot dog I ate yesterday!

No joke...it.was.that.good.

Seriously...dreaming about a hot dog.

Funny thing is...when Mr. OTM woke up he comes into the living room and says

"Boy that hot dog we ate yesterday was really good!"

(Things like that just reconfirm we are meant for each other! lol!)

Hello Fellow Flea Fanatics!

I found the magazine tonight in my local Food Lion grocery store!

Whew!

One less thing to worry about ....ya know?

Almost forgot to get the cat food I went in there for!It was exciting to see the Top 80 Readers Antique Malls.

When I flipped to North Carolina.....

I flipped OUT!

There they were....The Sleepy Poet & The Depot!

If you've been following me for awhile then you know that I have booth spaces at BOTH of these awesome malls! How cool was it to see them in this super cool magazine!
AND.....

Then I saw the Insiders Guide to Treasure Hunting in Nashville and the first section was on Franklin....which is where the Bella Rustica Barn Sale is in a couple weeks...which is where I will also have a booth!

Pretty~ darn~amazing!

I swear this magazine has super powers!

This afternoon I get a call from one of my customers who called to tell me that she found this "unbelievable magazine" at her grocery store and she knew I'd love it!

Wellllllll.......BINGO was his name-o~ she was right on!!

She's gonna try the suitcase shelves.

A little Etsy excitment!

Hello Friends!

Just a bit of excitement that I wanted to share with you today!

( Forgive me as I am about to "toot my own horn".I'm not usually comfortable in that position but this made me smile and feel pretty darn good!)

A few weeks ago, I was asked to join a team on Etsy called Etsy Lush. They stand for promoting the BEST stuff on etsy. I was happy to be asked so I accepted the invite.....and that was it.

Frankly, I didn't know what to do after that. So this morning I decided to nose around and realized you have to actually submit your items to be featured. So I did .....the Welcome to Our Porch Pillow.

When I got home I went to the site to see if in fact everything went thru okay and then THIS happened.....TA-DA!!!

Not only did everything go thru okay....I LANDED SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRONT PAGE!
Now , being new to etsy lush this might be the norm there and I just don't realize it. So for now I am just going to bask in the fact that out of 208 pages....I am on #1!
Again..a bit uncomfortable with all the braggin...but the other purpose of sharing this news is to inspire YOU!

Hello Friends!!!

Finally had a minute to go thru some of the photos of the BIG DAY!

It was beyond wonderful.

The weather was perfect.....

We were surrounded by family and friends.....

We danced for HOURS.......(like say maybe 10...no joke! FUN!)

There were fireworks....

The food was amazing....

The cake was beautiful.....

My brother and sister in laws house where the whole shin-dig took place.

They were sooooooo gracious in letting us take over the place. I mean the kitchen was in constant use....I don't know how many times we had to go in and out...I was always asking my BIL for something(christmas lights, blocks of wood, scissors.....)My SIL had the house spotless, the yard looked amazing. SO much went into this "simple" wedding. I can't even begin to say thanks enough.

Each daisy was hand made....

I hated cutting into it!

HELLO Friends!!!

This week is pretty darn exciting! This coming Saturday on Aug. 20th I will officially become MRS. OTM !

Yep...that's right Mr.OTM (olde tyme marketplace) and I decided it was time to do it up!

So many people thought that we were married already that it has come as a shock to some...wondering who we were marrying!!! So to set the record straight....we are in fact marrying each other!! Pretty hilarious!

We can't wait!!

It is going to be a small country wedding ~ by a pond ~ on a beautiful mountain in Friendsville Pennsylvania. Russ's brother and Sister in Law have graciously offered there beautiful home to host our event.

We are getting married by the Mayor of Friendsville.

Isn't that the cutest thing? The Mayor.......of Friendsville. It sounds like something that would happen in a movie. I love it!

Anyway, planning the decor was FUN! Keeping in mind that I wanted to stay on a tight budget , and I didn't want to have to bring a U-Haul from North Carolina, I kept all my decorating simple but sweet.

I thought you might like to see the items that I used for my inspiration!

White pumpkins for sale generally means cooler temps and THAT my friends can't come soon enough. I long to wake up in the morning and feel that "crisp" in the air.

Hello Friends!

How was your day? Mine was a tad nuts.

My first stop was to go get a new fan for the computer. The thing sounded like a plane taking off. I assumed that wasn't good~ so I took the old one out ( with some help from Mr.OTM) and aahhhhhhh......it's so nice to sit here a type this post without it sounding like I'm at the airport!

The rest of the day was just typical crazy. Mondays are my "running around like a lunatic" day trying to cram all the necessary day to day stuff into one day. You know...bank, post office, grocery shopping.........you get the picture. Usually I don't work at the shop on Mondays but I wanted to get in there today because I've got a LOT of work to do!

Old habits die hard and I found myself unloading the trailer into the truck , then taking the stuff out of the truck into the shop. Finally a light bulb went off and I came up with the brilliant idea to

JUST TAKE THE WHOLE TRAILER TO THE SHOP AND UNLOAD IT THERE!

Duh.

So that's what we did on Saturday. We got it all unloaded and the stuff was just sitting willy nilly all over the place. So I went in today so I could get some displays done because THIS WEEKEND is SUNDAY at the MARKETPLACE and I want ALL THE NEW JUNK OUT AND PRICED!

Soooo after receiving a few emails regarding the Junk in the trailer,

the pressure was on to get some pics posted.

Mind you....this is just the Tip of the iceberg.

Okay...this lovely 4 QT oil can used to be .......

The vintage cake carrier was once part of this pile......

Now it looks like this!

I couldn't even see this little one (all wrapped up in newspaper snug as a bug in a paper bag)

And this was almost smooshed to death by a huge bench thanks to some load shifting.

That's a technical trailer term for " stuff that has moved around while you are driving."

{You've gotta know the trailer lingo if you are gonna have one ...lol!}

Anyway, thank goodness it didn't fall on it.

I would have cried.

I promise to give you more photos of the junk as the unloading continues!

Talk about gettin excited!

I was restocking my booth yesterday at the Sleepy Poet and decided to take the looooonnnngggg way to the restroom before I left.

Hello Friends!!

You didn't think I came home with an EMPTY trailer did you?She got the OTM initiation!!
The best part is....look at ALL THE ROOM THAT'S LEFT!!!
I only had one day to shop , so you can imagine if I would have had more time this baby would have been filled to the brim.

I bought two awesome old chippy doors and if I wouldn't have had the trailer, there would have been no way to get um. They stuck way to far out of the back of the truck (there is always to roof I suppose! :0).....been there done that right?)

Now for the off load (yep Deadliest Catch fan)!

Boy does it feel good! I've been smilin for the last three days!
Ever since I started my biz wayyyyyy back in 87' I have wanted a utility trailer. At the time , I had a Chevy Cavalier and well ......not alot of pull with those to say the least!
As time went on, the money always needed to go someplace else. I'd save a little and then have to reluctently put it towards a more important issue. Can I get an AMEN?! You know how it goes.
Soooooo, when I was asked to participate in the Bella Rustica Urban Barn Show in Tennessee , I knew I needed to figure out a way to FINALLY get a trailer. I have all this primo junk that I HAVE to get down there cuz it definitely wouldn't all fit in the truck.
What to do....What to do????

I figured if I could get my Etsy shop up and running, hopefully I could earn enough to pay for one.
Totally optimistic huh?
I just had to go for it......
and say prayers.....
and be up til wee hours in the morning entering inventory.....

Well , I have to say I am beyond grateful. I was able to realize my dream of owning my own trailer because of my Etsy shop...AND MY MOST FABULOUS CUSTOMERS! You are truly the best...each and every one.
As I type this post I can look out my window and this is what I see. I have to be honest....
It makes me proud. LOTS of hard work went into it and I think that's why I am so happy.
It is all worth it.
So just think about it........you've seen all the junk I can slap on the back of the truck~ Can you just imagine what I can do with this baby!!! I get goose bumps just thinking about it. I feel like I'm runnin with the big dogs now.

I Fell in Love at Goodwill.....

With this!Hello Friends!

Today was filled with a dentist appt.~ hair appt. and some booth foofing,

but I still managed to get in a thrift store while I had 15 minutes to kill.
And this is what I found.

Isn't she adorable? And I had the car...not the truck. This was one of those "I don't care if I rip the leather seats in the car kinda deal !" ~ This was goin home with me!

THANKFULLY I didn't have to resort to anything drastic in the parking lot while I was trying to load it up. I didn't attract an audience or anything. { Don't laugh...it's happened.}

Anyway, it's hard to tell from the picture but she sits low and has a low back. Not as tall as a regular wing back is. She's short....like me {with cuter legs!}
Her fabric has a rustic nubby texture.
AND...
It's in great shape....no saggy seat
NO stinky smells....
Not a thing to be done!

She is going to be going to Nashville for the Bella Rustica Barn Sale!
She's ecstatic!

As if that wasn't enough~ I had to run into Wal-Mart today. The thing about Wal-Mart is that one minute you're buying kidney beans and laundry detergent and then on the way to grab some hair gel you spot
THIS!

Too dang cute for words!

Not even looking at the price

and when I did...

it wasn't too bad~ $13.88.

Worth every penny I think!

Sooooo I had a pretty fun day {except the dentist which wasn't THAT bad if I had to be honest...I did have a piece of tartar come up and hit me in the eye but all's well! Good grief it felt HUGE but I actually got to see it after it landed on my dentist bib and it was a speck! Are you still reading this ? WHY? lol!)

Hello Friends!

With yet another Sunday at the Marketplace behind me {where the temps got a tad higher than the weatherman predicted} I wanted to share with you something that has been keeping me

bizzzzzz-eeeee!

These little guys!

Yesterday I had a customer suggest that I do a blog post about my

"Welcome to Our Porch" pillow.

This story is great!

Read on..........

This particular customer is local {Charlotte} and I usually see her about twice a month. {The pillows had been sold out the last couple times she has been in the shop.} I knew she was heading to Michigan last month to visit friends and family. While visiting one of her friends one day they went out onto the front porch for lunch. While out there, my customer noticed this pillow on an old chair by her friends front door!

She asked her friend where she got it. The friend said,"I got it off Etsy, I kept the business card let me go get it." So off she goes to get the business card.....{MY business card} and comes back out onto the porch to give it to her friend.....{MY customer}!

Well you can just imagine the surprise and this was the conversation that ensued....

"Hey I shop there!"

"No way!!"

"Marshville is only about an hour from me!"

"Get OUT!"

"My porch NEEDS one of these pillows!"

"She has some listed in her Etsy shop now!"

"Get OUT!"

"No kiddin!"

"I'm ordering one like...NOW!"

"I'll go get my get my laptop."

And there you have it.

CRAZY RIGHT???!!

I loved it. Such a cool story.

JUNK PLANTS!

Hello Friends!

I did something a little different this year when it came to decorating my back deck with plants and flowers.

This year I used ALL JUNK PLANTS!!

{If you listen to them at Lowes they have a bit more class and selectively call it the

Distress Cart.}

Oh do I LUVVVV the "distress cart!"

How could I not? It's totally in my nature to give things a second chance. When I see many of these plants just basically needing a good dead heading , a little cut back and healthy dose of fertilizer I grab one of the BIG flat carts and load up!

I wish I would have thought to take some before photos of all these. Little shrunken messes they all were, just dying for a drink all withered and sad..........and cheap.

Have I ever mentioned I *LUV* cheap?

It's funny who you meet back there too ...at the junk cart.

Whoever you do meet you feel like you've know um all your life.

You start chatting about how cheap you both are and how you love seeing the plants come back to life and what you found on it the last time you were there (yesterday) and how sometimes it's fun to by a "mystery" plant and see what happens and what's the best fertilizer to use and how you really don't NEED any more plants or flowers and so on.....

These were my "mystery"plant. I knew they were petunias but not the color!

I was tickled pink!

Garlic chives. Twenty five cents.

Sweet potato vine is one of my all time favorites. You can't beat the color and the impact it has.
Plus it gives you tiny potatoes!

The tall chippy metal piece is actually the top of an old post lantern that I turned into a candle holder.

My little concrete garden angel was bargain too. She was only 2.00 because she had a broken foot. We made a deal. I asked her if I would find her foot and glue it back on, would she grace my garden and nurture all my junk plants. We shook on it. She's doing a fantastic job by the way.

So tell me.....how many of you go diggin in the junk cart?

Ain't it fun? If you've never done it....you are missing out!

The only problem is , once you start , you can't stop and you wind up spending perhaps more money than you want to. I look at it this was....I am saving a life.....a little tiny plants life. I am giving it a chance to bloom and grow and be all it can be. To one day leave the nest and go to college , then get married and have a family of it's own. LOL!

We got up this morning to send off my parents back to Ohio. They stayed with us over night on their trip home from Florida. Even though it was a super short visit, I loved it just the same.

After they left we decided to head out to a new untapped flea market.

HAD A BLAST!

FOUND LOTS O STUFF!!!

MET GREAT PEOPLE!!!

After we finished up there we decided to go Antique Malling!

Love hittin new places and rummaging through new territory.

Take a peek at the first of the stuff I took off the truck.The ladder.....adorable size....super color

This old rusty crust tractor seat is precious. Yellow and precious.

Now take a lookie and this tray!!! You are gonna flip. It's got a glass base and tightly woven sturdy painted a hundred times wicker and the handles are metal!

Can't decide to place this one on ETSY or my dining room table.

Chippy in all the right places...

*sigh*

Okay...now I need your help. I got 9 of these old fence sections. Each one is about 3 feet long, with rusty crusty old chippy paint.

Got any ideas???

My first thought was a trellis.

So far......that's it.

AND......Honestly the VERY VERY VERY BEST part about today was a total shock!

A total surspise! The best find of the day.

Out of the clear blue I get a phone call from one of my dearest friends in the world who I was unable to locate for about 6 years. I had tried to find her number. I knew she had moved. I did alot but nothing ever came together. Then all of the sudden...today I am talking to her on the phone. OH* MY* GOSH! I was sooooooo happy! I wanted to hug her through the phone. Picked up right where we left off and I can't wait to chat with her again this week. Judy...if you're reading this, the smile on my face is has been there since about 1:00 this afternoon. I am so happy to have found you. Or that you found me.

SO that's my day. All in all , it was perfect. One of the best I've had in a long time.

I sure hope you're day was just as blessed.

In a panic....

So there I was......happily snoozing away this morning.....

When BAM!! All the sudden I woke up and my first thought was.....

CHRISTMAS IS EXACTLY 6 MONTHS FROM TODAY!!

UGH!!

That sent me into a tailspin panic!

You know the kind when all the sudden get real warm and you can't sit still and you need to blog about it to at least SHARE the panic just a little with your loyal followers? (You're welcome by the way...if I've sent you into a panic of your own I can't apologize...I needed some company while I stress....I can be a stinker like that...)

Oh the work that needs to be done in these next few.....very few months!!I can't help but ask....

So now that I've calmed it down a bit and have created mass hysteria for a few of you~ I feel better! LOL!

So today I am just gonna head to the shop.......

(and maybe ....just maybe.....open the dreaded Christmas closet and just take a peek at what lies ahead.)

Good morning friends! Today is another lesson in how desperate times call for desperate measures. In the junk biz that izzzzz.

Mr. OTM and I went on a junk trip and filled the truck with a bunch of awesome stuff.

We had loaded and re-loaded the truck countless times.

We were on our LAST re-load.

I had paid and we were out in the parking lot.

close.

AND THEN I SPOTTED THIS 10 foot beauty lurking behind some bushes.

Mr.OTM sees me going over to take a peek...

He yells "come back Beth come back, we don't have any more room!"

{Between you and me...there is ALWAYS more room.....}

No price so I had to go back inside. He knows he's lost me at this point.

When I heard $70.00 bucks I KNEW we had to figure out how to get this thing home.

That's when my darling of darlings says those magic hillbilly words.....

We could always strap it on the roof!!

{Ahhhhh...I fell in love all over again.}

So that is exactly what we did!

Cue the music cuz we headed down the road for our two hour trip home!

There once was a story bout a gal named Beth...

Strapped the sign on her roof and couldn't care less....

She got a trunk full o junk and couldn't be more happy.....

So off to the shop and unload it merrily!!!!!

Oh the pride of being a junk dealer!!

I LOVE IT!!

BIG NEWS!!! BELLA RUSTICA NASHVILLE....HERE I COME!!

I am so EXCITED share this BIG NEWS with you all!

So a few months back I was contacted by the sweetest gal Linda asking me if I would be interested in being a vendor at this new barn sale she was putting together as a major fundraiser. Hum....she had me at Barn Sale. I was DEFINITELY interested~ then all the questions started coming. This is BIG TIME for me! How could I possibly do this? I would have to get some help. What will I take? Will I have enough? Will they like my stuff? Where will I stay? Will my display be good enough? How will I haul it all? I can't back up a trailer!! UGH.....! Well after a good dose of HOW CAN YOU NOT DO IT from Mr. OTM (YOU live for this kinda stuff, he said!!) all of Linda's confidence in me and my friend Wendy coming along~ I was so excited at the invitation that I knew I HAD TO DO IT!!! . I had to do some crafty schedule maneuvers but LOOK OUT NASHVILLE .....HERE I COME!!!

I am going to be in excellent company!

Hello Friends!!

I just had to let you know.......that for all the ones who voted for me to do the chair seats with the different feed sacks.....
You Were Right!
I got them done last Saturday morning......
Set them all outside the back of the shop......
Within AN HOUR they were GONE!
One of my best new customers Carol, snagged um right up!!
She knew better than to leave um for Sunday at the Marketplace.
THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED ME MAKE UP MY MIND!!!
I appreciate all the other great ideas that some of you shared with me as well. I've got my junk radar tuned into chairs {especially matching sets} so I can try some of them!

Happy Monday Morning!!

So Saturday was finally the day when I was able to load up the truck {more than once} and haul some HUGE LOADS to the shop for some MAJOR RESTOCKING!

This was the first load....

all these loads include my Lucketts finds as well as all the other goodies I picked up in Virginia and Maryland!

This is just the first load of 3....yep THREE that we hauled over there!

I always get the shop crammed for our Sunday at the Marketplace event which just so happens to be THIS COMING SUNDAY ~ June 12th !

You don't want to miss out on all this goodness!

This has been one busy week for sure!

Since I opened my Etsy shop this past Wednesday, I have been having so much fun!

Even had some sales already and I am just so tickled!

THANK YOU to all who have visited and left such sweet comments!

I can't wait to add even more goodies!

Speaking of goodies~ Southern Marketplace is having their

GRAND OPENING EVENT today June 4th from 11-7!

They are located on Hwy. 74 in Indian Trail in front of Lowes.

I went by last night and tweeked my booth:

{added in some touches of red and fresh flowers}!

The place is FULL of all kinds of great items:

shabby furniture, floral, nests, cloches, Willow Tree, jewelry, cottage, chippy stuff and more! They are going to have refreshments along with door prizes drawn every 30 minutes!
To help celebrate the day I will be offering 10% off your entire purchase! The discount will be taken at the register.

When you're done there hop in the car and come on down to the shop {only 25 minutes}! I have been restocking this week with lots of my recent finds and the shop is pretty packed!
