If money were no object............

Okay..so how many times have you gone shopping and came across a piece that made you have a tantrum you wanted it so bad and couldn't get it because it was a GA-ZILLION BUCKS??!! Well that happened to me this past Sunday...ONLY I WANTED TWO PIECES not just one..(I was being selfish but since it was MY tantrum I might as well make it worth it ..right??!!) The OPEN sign knocked me over it was so cool...You know how you try to guess-timate the price even before you look at tag..well I wasn't even close. To make matters worse then I fell in love with the piece that the OPEN sign is sitting on......guess -timating again....hoping....praying.....AGAIN not even close!.....full on tantrum mode now...legs shakin... bottom lip stuck out a mile, severe pouting, wondering where the closest place is to by a Mega Millions lottery ticket... take out a second mortage..... OH YES!! Layaway....could I possibly put it on layaway for like a year (and a half...maybe)?....would I look stupid asking?..... SNAP OUT OF IT...realizing that YES I would , I settled for a picture of yet another killer piece that will go into the "if money were no object" file. Oh well, sometimes you just gotta let it go.....

  1. Aww... :( poor baby. And then you have another tantrum when you get home, because, "UGH!! IT would have been perfect RIGHT HERE!~" I know the feeling. Maybe you could haggle the price on table and make the sign? Dont stomp your feet over my suggestion! :P

  2. So funny! I can so relate...in fact it happened to me today. I was so way off too on what I was hoping for. Well, it won't take long before I find another piece to take it off my mind! :)

  6. So Beth, do I dare ask how much both pieces were because they are cool? Maybe you could barter, beg, throw a fit in the shop and plead for them...just a thought :)

  7. OK...been there, done that. I actually felt that way about a piece at a local antique store. I actually would stop in just to "visit" it. The owner offered me a great deal if it did not sell in a month...well it sold. I hope she has a good home {sigh}.

  8. There are very few "one of a kind" items in life. And most antique/collectible dealers will haggle.

What really makes me mad is when I pay the ginormous price and then find the same item, only better, a few weeks later for 1/5 the price - it does happen.

  10. Believe me when I say that sign will haunt you for several years down the road! I've been in your shoes and their are things I still wish I could have gotten from 2 or 3 years ago! I've even consider selling my blood, a kidney, anything to come up with enough money to buy some old piece of junk!
