AMERICAN PICKERS!!

Pay close attention.......you about to add some very important words to your vocabulary~
Thanks to Mike( aka Hottie McHott Hott according to Vintage Rescue Squad...lol!) and Frank" If I had a pork chop sandwich for every time I heard that one" you will totally need to be in the know for "freestyling" and "windshield time". Two very high tech terms for........ junkin!
Have you watched AMERICAN PICKERS yet??? I can't even believe it's on~ I mean FINALLY a reason to feel like you belong ~ to something~ cool even. It's been along time coming and frankly (pun intended) I am totally hyped! Life as a junker holds major excitement as many of you know. Treasures lurk around every corner~ the thrill of the hunt is addicting. Most of my shirts have stains on them, I never have a manicure, I keep gloves , a crowbar, wellies and screwdriver in my car at all times. I deal with cobwebs, mud, spider eggs, dust, dirt, you name it and well~ I guess that's the part where you loose most people in a conversation. Funny thing though, when they see a piece they LOVE and you tell them that "Oh that came out of an old chicken coop covered in chicken poop" they are AMAZED!
YOU GOTTA WATCH THIS SHOW~ the people they meet are the true stars, and their stories are even better. One of the best parts is that Mike and Frank ~ have a heart and don't try to rip these people off . Oh they dicker and do get some deals which is fun to watch and TOTALLY part of the junkin experience. So when I leave the house today, my head will be held a little higher, stained shirt and all and know that I am now part of the COOL group! It feels great!!

I watched this last night...and now I am hooked!
Was yesterday the first episode? I am definately setting my DVR for Monday nights!
I saw so many items that I would have snatched up tool.
The older gentlemen towards the end was tough...he wouldn't sell anything! What was he holding on to it for?
And that sweet little old lady...She was so cute!

There isn't anything "cooler" than a junker or antiquer! Who wants to be a Barbie Doll sitting on the sidelines when there's good things to be had????? Keep that chin up high, Dawn

Hi Dawn........We saw this show for the first time last night. Loved it!
Always liked Antiques Roadshow but this is the nitty gritty of it all!
Oh, no, now there will be more pickers out there.

I too watched that show lastnight for the first time....
Actually, Mr. Backwoods stopped on it while channel surfing....I can kind of relate to the gentleman that didn't seem like he wanted to sell much...I get pretty attached to that "old stuff"....I buy things with the perfect intentions of selling it in our shop...but if it ever comes in our house,I have a tough time parting with it!! LOL!!

Beth, I just watched this last night too. A friend told me about it last night and I now have it set to record the series. It is great. Keep your shoulders back, head up proud and now you know that you are in the elite group of American Pickers (probably have always been and they are just catching up with you). Have a good evening. I'm so psyched about this show.I was going to do a blog about the American Pickers show tonight.

I watched it this week and last week, loved it! On the last show one of the house's they stopped at, the guy said "he who dies with the most junk wins" and didn't sell the guys much at all.

I know what you mean about never getting a manicure, I haven't had a manicure in years, and a little chicken poop, spider's and their cobwebs don't stop me, however I don't do snake's! I carry a small toolbox, some old packing blankets, hand sanitizer and bandaids, you never know what kind of rust you come across.

my sister and I are going to try freestyling, there is a house I pass from time to time, and it has trailer's & trailer's full of junk and 2 barns on the property, I can't wait to see what we unearth or if the guy will even let us look. I might even pick up a chalkboard.

Happy junking,
Melissa
