June is almost OVER!!! What????

Time is FLYING!! So many things on my to-do list have yet to get done and June is already almost over!
Each year after Christmas I make this wonderful list of everything I want to get done in the next coming months. Here's a peek at mine:
Re-do Master Bedroom
Paint Spare Bedroom
Re-arrange furniture in Living room
Re-stain the Deck
Re-arrange the deck
Give Blog a face lift
Build a website
And that's just a peek.
Guess how many have been done.......

TWO!
Re-staining the deck and re-arranging all my stuff on the deck.
I am VERY happy at least those have been scratched off.
I have finally been able to go shopping for plants and flowers to fill all my planters out there.
It was getting depressing seeing cute chippy white planters empty with no blooms !

So far this Spring had been filled with Shows, like Lucketts Spring Market (love!!) and filling etsy orders like my number bottles here. The shop has been busy (many thanks!!) and the junk finds have been.......

FANTASTIC!!! We have been all over the place digging, rummaging, picking, curb scrapping and shopping for great stuff. Both of our booth spaces at The Sleepy Poet and The Depot at Gibson Mill  have recently got some PRIMO junk.
As for the other things on the list, well progress has been made on trying to get a website built and the blog face lift. I had saved up some $$$ to get it done then the ole transmission decided to go on the truck so that's where that all had to go! We have to have the truck to go find then junk then haul the junk so the junk can sell and bills get paid~ so it was a no brainer. I am still excited to get this done and can't wait to be able to show you all the "new" old look!!
Til then I have added another thing on my to-do list:
Learn how to transfer photos from my smart phone (droid bionic) to my computer. If anyone knows how to do this....I have a feeling I am the last person on earth who doesn't know...please feel free to share the info!

Shop Pics!

Hi!
I finally had the chance to upload some more shop pics to share with you tonight!
I would have gotten to it earlier but
I've been distracted with all the Elizabeth Taylor tributes on the TV.
Was she not STUNNING? Such a beauty. Mesmerizing even.
The camera loved her.
I was sad to hear she passed away today.
She will be missed by many.
After uploading all these , I realized that I need to take some more inside shots!
I hope you enjoy these and as I get some time , I'll take some more pics tomorrow.
Old shabby cupboard filled with old flour and feedsacks...
Love all the different tones...

NEW! Brown and cream check burlap ribbon on the wreaths...

HERB CENTRAL!

My first customer of the day...PUNKY!

Lavender was a hit!

Spring blooms made the porch sing!!

Huge old birdhouse...
Seeing these makes me want to get diggin in the dirt...

Bright and Sunny...

Bunnies everywhere!

Thank you for all your sweet comments about this display. This is located right across from the cash register area! It makes me happy all day long.
Have a great evening everyone!
Rest in peace Ms. Taylor.

Feedsack Photo Shoot!

Hi!
You may remember a few posts back I teased you with a photo of
one of the items that I bought when I went to market in Atlanta.
Guess what arrived yesterday??
I was soooo beyond excited to get the box open because look what was inside........Yep! Ten of the most wonderful nubby old feed sacks directly from France via Atlanta!
I was a lucky duck that day I found these. I was actually looking for a floor that was supposed to be selling Cash & Carry antiques. That turned out to be a farce.

Instead I was fortunate enough to find the couple who had these AND I was their first customer of the day.

They had a stack of about 6 or 7 laying on top of a table when they invited me to go "behind the curtain" and see what was back there. My jaw hit the floor! No joke...it was AMAZING what they had and then I hear this....."Go ahead and pick out the ones you want and we'll ship them to you....you're lucky you're the first one to see them!" Oh my gosh did I have a BLAST! I was going through feed sack after feed sack wanting them ALL! In an effort to not blow my whole shop budget on just feed sacks, I decided on 10.
Here they are......

They are truly all in wonderful condition. I even loved them with the handmade repairs.

THIS one is my favorite. It's a neutral check that I have never seen before.

The pattern and texture are so beautiful.

Think of the pillows that could be made...

or simply used as table runners...

or just stack um.....

the details like this make me smile...

neutral stripes...

or red stripes are pure perfection....

stitched with love...

I am in heaven just looking at them.
I had plans to make so many things but now I don't know if I have the guts to cut them.
What would you do?
Cheers! :0)

But I leave You with This....A DateBook Makeover!

Hello friends! I am getting ready to head to market in Atlanta for a few days with my good bud Shellee! This trip always inspires me and gets the creative juices flowing, not to mention it helps in the restocking of the shop too! I won't be bloggin for a few days but I did want to leave you with a mini make-over I did today on my datebook!
I ABSOLUTELY cannot leave for Atlanta without a datebook. It is my most used item I carry there. I sketch, make notes, write ship dates, appointments you name it.
I tried to find one this year that was halfway interesting and they were all either too cute or too weird...so I gave up. Mr.OTM on the other hand did not! He slipped one into my stocking this year and while it wasn't exactly what I had in mind.....it gave me an idea!
Welcome to the DateBook Makeover! Here's what I started with:
Datebook
Feedsack scrap
Old Levis shirt (25 cents at a yard sale...I liked the ticking stripe!)
Burlap scrap
rubber stamps
ink pad

You need to start off by cutting the material to fit your book. Make sure your seam allowance is enough to hem and that your book will fit once you are done sewing.

This is what you are going for. You may want to embellish the front of your cover BEFORE you sew the flaps over...it makes it WAY easier to get done espicially if you want to SEW your embellishment on.

This is what I decided to do! I used the scraps to create a patch, then stamped the year 2011 on the front.

I also added a little pocket on the inside to hold my business cards.

This could also be used to hold pens or even a cell phone

Now THIS is more of what I had in mind! A very EASY little makeover that makes it one of a kind! I had all this stuff laying around so I didn't go out and buy anything specific to make it.

I hope you all behave yourselves while I'm gone! Don't worry I'll be taking loads of pics to share with you.
Mr. OTM will be running the shop so if ya get a chance stop on by and say HI!
See Ya SOON!

P.S. This little post is linked to White Wednesday
&
There's LOTS of eye candy over there!
Enjoy!!
