I always wanted to be an archeologist........

I know what you are saying......"it looks like she just went to the dump!" But I swear it isn't...(not that I am beyond doing that either...our dump won't let you take anything...I've already tried!)

This is just a field of junk laying everywhere! I would have to say that about 75% of it is too far gone even for me to be able to do anything with but you HAVE TO DIG & RUMMAGE! That's where the fun part comes in. So many things are just laying on top of other things and you really have to be careful because there is broken glass, nails ,you name it. Hey, junkin ain't pretty BUT you can find a few treasures if you are willing to put in a little time. In a way I feel kind of like an archeologist, digging up the past! That was just kind of an AH-HA moment! COOL! I wanted to be one as a kid but you had to study science and be good at math and bla bla bla PLUS it would seriously get in the way of junking and antiquing so I just put it on the back burner. Anyway, I did walk away with a few things and I will post some pics of those in the next few days! Hope everyone is warm and snuggy! Looks like I might finally see snow here in NC tonight and tomorrow! Lisa from HomeThrown Pottery and I have been wishin pretty hard! Have a great day!

Good heavens, me dear, that landscape looks surreal! All that junk! Getting dizzy just looking at it!!! Though I HAVE been to a few crazy estate sales where the backyard looks similar but is just on a smaller scale!!!

Had to laugh when I read you had already tried to rescue stuff from your dump!!!

Hey Beth-You sure did hit it big with all that junk. I remember when we were kids there was a place by our house called the dump.Yep-I loved going there. People use to throw things over this hill and I loved looking and picking threw it. I should have known then I would love to go junking and antiqueing. Must be in our blood.LOL

I can identify with your childhood dream. I, too, have always enjoyed digging for buried treasure. We have a buried dump site from generations ago on our farm. When I am walking through the woods and come upon it, I can't help but pick up a stick and start poking and digging in the dirt to see if I can turn up an old bottle or other treasure.

And when we're at our camp on the river, you'll sometimes find me nose down/bottom up at the river's edge looking for pretty rocks and colored "river" glass. My husband always laughs when he peers down and sees me--tail up in the air--compares me to the ducks that swim by and poke their heads down searching for food. Not a very flattering comparison, do you think?

Aaah..the joys of treasure hunting! Smiles and sunshine...Bev
